This one-of-a-kind green mala tassel necklace features a unique take on the traditional mala necklace. The necklace has 108 beads strung in a bold pattern. A green and white cotton thread is hand-knotted between each bead. The tassel is also multi-colored, featuring the cotton thread and some smaller single-color strands. The beads come from a local Buddhist temple here in Myanmar, called Mahamuni Temple.

As I strung this mala, I listened to the mantra, Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo, which roughly translates as “I bow to the divine universe, I bow to the wisdom within myself.” Malas are perfect for japa meditation and spiritual practices, but can also be worn as yoga jewelry or an accessory. They hold their significance when worn outside of spiritual practices.
